WOOL4SCHOOL® 2017 COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This document sets out the terms on which you participate (‘Terms and Conditions’) in the Wool4School® 2017 Student Design Competition (‘Competition’).

PROMOTER

  1. The promoter of the Competition is The Woolmark Company Pty Limited (ACN 067 866 657) (‘Promoter’). The Promoter is a wholly owned subsidiary of Australian Wool Innovation Limited (‘AWI’) (ABN 12 095 165 558). The Promoter’s registered office is Level 6, 68 Harrington Street, Sydney The Rocks, 2000, New South Wales, Australia


COMPETITION

  1. The Competition will be run for students only.
  2. Each entry to the Competition must be in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. By entering the Competition, each eligible Entrant (‘Entrant’) agrees to be bound by the applicable clauses in these Terms and Conditions (as well as agreeing that The Promotor and its affiliates can send you Competition information, materials and updates).
  3. The Promoter may its discretion refuse to award any prize to any Entrant who fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions, the law, or whose involvement with the Competition may otherwise cause adverse publicity to the Promoter, AWI or the Australian wool industry.
  4. All relevant instructions on the Promoters’ website www.wool4school.com (‘Website’) form part of these Terms and Conditions.
  5. The Promoter has the right to disqualify any Entrant(s) that is deemed to have cheated or not complied with these Terms and Conditions (eg enters the incorrect year group).
  6. The Promoters decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  7. The Competition is not open to:
    1. any person who is an employee, officer, servant or contractor of the Promoters or AWI, or any organisation associated with the Competition or provision of the prize, or their related bodies corporate or associates or any of their agencies involved with the Competition;
    2. any natural or adopted child, or sibling of a person referred to in paragraph i.;
    3. any person who is not ordinarily a Hong Kong resident or citizen;
    4. any person who refuses to comply with or breaches any term of these Terms and Conditions.
  8. Entry into the Competition is free.
  9. To be eligible for a prize the Entry must only include original material created by the Entrant, including (where applicable) any words, art, photographs or images.


SUBMISSION PERIOD

  1. Registration opens 30th November 2016 and closes 15th April 2017 at 5:00pm DST. Submissions into the Competition open on 30th November 2016 at 9:00am DST, and closes 19th May 2017 at 5:00pm DST.
  2. Any entry received after the expiry of the submission date of the applicable competition will be deemed invalid. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost, delayed or misdirected entries. The winners will be announced on 15th June 2017.


COMPETITION – ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. The Student Competition will have two categories (‘Categories’) as follows;
    1. Students in academic junior level (‘Junior Level’)
    2. Students in academic senior level (‘Senior Level’)
  2. All student entrants (‘Student Entrants’).if selected as a finalist (‘Finalist’) the Student Entrant will be required to complete a Permission to Publish Form, and a Parental Consent Form, which the Promoter will provide at the suitable time. Finalists who do not provide these completed forms will not be eligible to progress further in the Competition, or receive a Prize.
  3. To be eligible to enter a junior or senior group Category, the Student Entrant must be in the applicable school academic level at the time of submission, and for the duration of the competition.
  4. To enter a junior or senior Category, the Student Entrant must submit all the relevant documents (‘Submission Documents’) for that Category.
  5. Any Student Entrant who fails to submit all the Submission Documents for their Category will not be eligible to be chosen as a Finalist.
  6. Any documents submitted by a Student Entrant in excess of the Submission Documents for the applicable Category, will not be considered by the Promoter’s judging panel (‘Judging Panel’) in their judging of the Entries.
  7. A Student Entrant must submit the Entry using the online submission form on the Website; and all fields of the submission form must be completed. File uploads are limited to 10MB per file, and must be submitted in .pdf, .jpg, .png, .doc or .docx format. If you need support to up load your files contact the Honk Kong office of the Promoter no later than the 8th May 2017 and arrange a post entry to registered address Unit 3305, 33/F AIA Kowloon Tower Landmark East, 100 How Ming Street Kwun Tong Kowloon Hong Kong.
  8. Each Student Entrant can only enter the Competition once.
  9. All Entries will become the property of the Promoters and will not be returned to the Student Entrants.
  10. The Entry must not contain inappropriate language, gratuitous violence, sexual references or statements that, in the Promoter’s reasonable opinion, promote hatred towards an individual, race, or community.


COMPETITION – SUBMISSION DOCUMENTS

  1. Entrants in the Junior Level Competition must include the following:
    1. An illustrated design (‘Fashion Illustration’) of an outfit (‘Outfit’) and one accessory with annotations with suitable fabric selections. The Outfit must contain a minimum of one piece, with a maximum of four pieces plus a minimum of one accessory (accessories do not count as ‘pieces’). The proposed fabric for the Outfit should be made from at least 80 percent Merino wool, which can incorporate knit or woven fabrics or a combination of both.
    2. A Mood Board (‘Mood Board’). This is a collage of images and materials displayed on a board that expresses a ‘mood’ or theme, and your Mood Board should visually illustrate the style you have sought to emulate in the Outfit.
  2. Entrants in the Senior Level Competition must include the following:
    1. An illustrated design (‘Fashion Illustration’) of an outfit (‘Outfit’) and one accessory with annotations with suitable fabric selections. The Outfit must contain a minimum of one piece, with a maximum of four pieces plus a minimum of one accessory (accessories do not count as ‘pieces’). The proposed fabric for the Outfit should be made from at least 80 percent Merino wool, which can incorporate knit or woven fabrics or a combination of both.
    2. A creative statement (‘Creative Statement’) to accompany the Outfit and describe how your garment best uses Merino wool;
    3. A Mood Board (‘Mood Board’). This is a collage of images and materials displayed on a board that expresses a ‘mood’ or theme, and your Mood Board should visually illustrate the style you have sought to emulate in the Outfit.
  3. Student Entrant’s names must not appear as text anywhere on the Fashion Illustration, although can be included on all other documents submitted.


COMPETITION – WINNERS AND PRIZES

  1. One Student Entry in each level Category will be chosen as the Student Winner for that Category by the Judging Panel. The Judging Panel shall base their decision on the Entry which, in their opinion, best satisfies the following judging criteria:
    1. Innovative and original design;
    2. Reference to the breif/theme;
    3. A cohesive design/look - suitable for the chosen  musician and music;
    4. Fashion Illustration – drawing style and clarity of drawing;
    5. Suitability of Merino wool fabric selected for the design(s) (knit or woven);
    6. Reference to suitable wool innovations;
    7. Demonstration of understanding of the properties of Australian wool;
    8. Clear annotations to show features of the Outfit; and
    9. Overall visual presentation.
  2. Chance plays no part in determining the Student Winners. The Judging Panel may choose more than one Student Winner in a Category at their sole discretion.
  3. The Prize for the senior Student Winners will be as follows;


    1st place:

    1. The winning Outfit will be made by Australian Design Jonathan Ward and exhibited on The Woolmark Company social media platforms and in an advertorial in Beyond the Bale magazine, AWI’s shareholder magazine;
    2. 1st place trophy
    3. 3-day internship at The Woolmark Company Hong Kong
    4. 500HKD voucher at Uniqlo


    2nd  place:

    1. 2nd Place certificate
    2. Invitation to an exclusive student workshop hosted by The Woolmark Company
    3. 300HKD voucher at Uniqlo


    3rd place:

    1. 3rd Place certificate
    2. Invitation to an exclusive student workshop hosted by The Woolmark Company
    3. 200HKD voucher at Uniqlo


    The Prize for the junior Student Winners will be as follows;

    1st, place:

    1. Certificate
    2. Invitation to an exclusive student workshop hosted by The Woolmark Company
    3. 600HKD voucher at  Uniqlo


    2nd place:

    1. 2nd Place certificate
    2. Invitation to an exclusive student workshop hosted by The Woolmark Company
    3. 300HKD voucher at Uniqlo


    3rd place:

    1. 3rd Place certificate
    2. Invitation to an exclusive student workshop hosted by The Woolmark Company
    3. 200HKD voucher at Uniqlo


ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS

  1. The Student Winner of each Category will be announced on 15 June 2017 on the www.wool4school.hk website, with Entrants notified by by their school or The Woolmark Company directly. It is the responsibility of the Entrant to ensure their registered details are correct, and the Promoter will not be held liable for any Entrant’s failure to receive the email notification.


COMPETITION – WINNERS AND PRIZES

  1. By submitting the Entry to the Promoter, the Entrant grants the Promoter and their licensees and assignees a non-exclusive license to exercise all rights in perpetuity throughout the world in the Entry and all other material provided to the Promoters pursuant to this Competition at any time. All other rights will remain with the Entrants.
  2. Without limiting the rights granted to the Promoter under clause 30, the Entrant acknowledges the Promoter and its licensees and assignees may exercise the non-exclusive right throughout the world to communicate the Entry in whole or in part to the public on any media platform.
  3. By submitting the Entry to the Promoter, the Entrant unconditionally and irrevocably consents to any act or omission by the Promoter, their licensees and assignees, which would otherwise infringe their right to:
    1. Be attributed for the Entry;
    2. Not have the Entry treated in a derogatory manner, wherever and whenever occurring and including in relation to any modified form of the Entry.
  4. The Entry may be edited or adapted at any time by the Promoters in order to:
    1. Ensure the Entry meets any legal or classification requirements or to avoid any breach of law; and/or
    2. Use the Entry for promotional purposes.
  5. By submitting an Entry the Entrant acknowledges that the Promoter may allow users to view, reproduce, download and otherwise deal in the copyrights attached to and embodied in the Entry.
  6. The Promoter aims to ensure that any use of the Entry not authorised by the Entrant will not occur, however the Entrant acknowledges that they are not equipped with mechanisms to prevent unauthorised use of the Entry, and the Entrant accepts that, to the extent allowable under the law, the Promoter has no liability to an Entrant for how the end user elects to use the Entry, and as such it may be permanently stored, reproduced, copied, distributed or the like, without recourse or remedy against the Promoters.
  7. Should a Student Winner choose not to accept their Prize, or not be eligible for the relevant Prize as determined by these Terms and Conditions,  the Prize will not be substituted with another prize, and the Promoter reserves the right, entirely at its own discretion, to award the Prize to another Entrant in their place.
  8. The Student Winners will be notified by mail, telephone or e-mail as soon as reasonably possible following determination of the Winner.
  9. The Student Winners warrant that:
    1. all details provided with their entry are true and accurate;
    2. they have all necessary rights and licenses to grant the rights set out in these Terms and Conditions;
    3. their Entry is wholly comprised of original work, created and owned by them, and has not been previously communicated to the public;
    4. their Entry does not contain any other commercial words, art, photographs or images;
    5. their Entry does not contain any identifiable product or product logo other than the school’s crest;
    6. they are the copyright owner or authorised licensor of all copyright works and subject matter comprising of your Work.
    7. the exercise of the rights granted to the Promoters in these Terms and Conditions will not infringe the rights of any third parties;
    8. they will indemnify the Promoters against any loss or damage resulting from any breach of these warranties.
  10. Student Winners acknowledge that the Promoters are under no obligation to exercise any of the rights granted to it by these Terms and Conditions, and providing downloads and any communication of the entries to the public by the Promoters is at the complete discretion of the Promoters.
  11. Entrants agree that the Promoters may use entries and any personal details provided to the Promoters for any promotional, marketing and publicity purposes of the Promoters in any media without notice and without any fee being paid.
  12. Decisions of the Promoters and its panel of judges are final and will be binding on each person who enters the Competition and no correspondence will be entered into. The name of the finalists and the school/city/town/suburb in which he/she attends/lives will be announced in the media chosen by the Promoters including but not limited to the Wool4SchoolTM website and The Woolmark Company FacebookTM page.
  13. If there is any event that prevents or hinders the Promoters’ conduct of the Competition or the Promoters’ ability to deliver the prize(s) to the prize winner(s) of the Competition, the Promoters may, in their discretion, cancel the Competition and recommence it at another time under the same conditions, or select another winner.
  14. The Promoters are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this Competition, or for any technical error that may occur in the course of the administration of this Competition. The Promoters assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.
  15. To the full extent permitted by the law, the Promoters will not be liable for any injury, damages, expenses, or loss whatsoever (whether direct or consequential) to persons or property as a result of any person entering into the Competition or accepting or using any prize, including without limitation non-receipt of any prize or damage to any prize in transit.
